October has arrived and the spookiest day of the year is nearly here! It’s time for tasting candy corn, dipping caramel apples, picking out costumes, and trick-or-treating. At Durocher Florist in West Springfield, we love scary movies and haunted houses as much everyone else, but our favorite way to celebrate the spirit of Halloween is by designing fun Halloween floral arrangements with creepy and creative touches.
Our Favorite Flowers for Halloween Bouquets
Orange Gerbera Daisies
The perfect shade of pumpkin orange, gerbera daisies are a must for Halloween bouquets. They’re fun and festive all at once, and make the perfect addition to an arrangement featuring either traditional Halloween colors or harvest hues. In our Boo-tiful Bats Halloween arrangement, gerbera daisies make a big appearance, complementing the rising full moon with blooms ascending from the container up to the tops of curvy willow branches and flying bats. Fall foliage and yellow button flowers fill out the arrangement for a completely haunting look.

Haunted House Bouquet
Chrysanthemums
Another fall favorite are chrysanthemums. These pretty many-petaled flowers bloom in almost every color of the rainbow, so they’re a perfect choice for colorful Halloween floral designs. We love to pair green chrysanthemums with purple and orange blooms or add purple spider chrysanthemums to a spooky bouquet. Potted chrysanthemums in warm autumn colors, like yellow, orange, gold, red, and burgundy, create a cheerful, welcoming look when placed by your front door. Just be sure to bring them inside before a frosty night!
Red Carnations
Just right for an autumn floral arrangement, cottage red carnations perfectly complement brighter autumn colors like orange and yellow, adding depth and richness to an otherwise overly gold-toned palette. Their soft petals also add a touch of comfort in an arrangement featuring more sharply textured petals. In our Haunted House Bouquet, deep red carnations add depth and whimsy to this playful arrangement. An assortment of fall-colored blooms bubble up from a ceramic pumpkin keepsake container. Atop the flowery mountain, sits a haunted house in silhouette, complete with a witchy resident. A forest of curly willow spindles over the haunted house, in a spooky frame-like design.
Sunflowers
Another Halloween and harvest classic are sunflowers. These big, beautiful blooms make a real statement in any floral arrangement. We especially love them in our Trick & Treat Bouquet, which mimics the look of a wildly overgrown autumn garden. In this arrangement, sunflowers, daisies, chrysanthemums, fall foliage, berries, and willow sticks burst with autumn glory from a keepsake jack-o-lantern container.
